Steve lived across the street from me at Elm/Center (We were on Hickory/Center). For a number of years his family had a neighborhood grocery store at the end of their long backyard, across from the end of our long backyard. I can still remember whineing to Mom about having to go (alllllllllllllllllllllll that way) to get something for her. On the other hand, it was a just a hop 'n skip to my best candy source!
Those of us in the neighborhood waited on the corner of his house for the bus to Northlawn, then we all waited on our corner for the bus to SHS. Wow..this seems so long ago, but the fond memories remain.
