Born in Sumter County on July 22, 1982, he was the youngest of three children born to Larry G. and Patricia Johnson Smith. Bryan attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School in the Class of 2000. He attended Central Carolina Technical College. He was formerly employed at the Santee Print Co. and most recently at the Kaydon Bearing Corp. of Sumter as a CNC machine operator
