Home Alone

Families suck. That's the opinion of 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), whose family unwittingly leaves him behind when they go on vacation. In no time, Kevin makes the most of the situation, watching forbidden flicks and pigging out on junk food. But when a pair of bungling burglers (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) set their sights on Kevin's house, the plucky kid stands ready to defend his territory -- by planting booby traps galore!

Ghost

Gothamites Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) see their romance shattered when a street thug kills Sam during a mugging.  But love endures beyond the grave when a spectral Sam learns that Molly is in danger and he must find a way to warn her before she suffers his fate.  Whoppi Goldberg co-stars as sassy pseudopsychic Oda Mae, who serves as Sam's liaison with the living.

Dances with Wolves

Wounded Civil War soldier John Dunbar (Kevin Costner) tries to commit suicide -- and becomes a hero instead.  As a reward, he's assigned to his dream post, a remote junction on the Western frontier, and soon makes unlikely friends with the local Sioux tribe.

Pretty Woman

When millionaire wheeler-dealer Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) enters a business contract with Hollywood hooker Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts), he loses his heart in the bargain in this charming romantic comedy.  After Edward hires Vivian as his date for a week and gives her a Cinderella makeover, she returns the favor by mellowing the hardnosed tycoon's outlook.  Can the poor prostitute and the rich capitalist live happily ever after?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie

Based on the popular animated series, this live-action feature tells the story of four young turtles (Michelan Sisti, Josh Pais, David Forman and Leif Tilden) who've become ninjas following radiation exposure.  The teen turtles live in the New York sewers, eliminating crime and battling the evil warlord Shredder (James Saito).  They do this with help from their leader, Splinter the Rat (Kevin Clash), and from a television reporter (Judith Hoag).

The Hunt for Red October

When a Soviet nuclear sub headed toward American waters drops off U.S. scanners, the Yanks scramble to take defensive steps.  But CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) convinces the brass that the sub's commander (Sean Connery) has something other than a first strike in mind.  A perilous cat-and-mouse game ensues in this taut technothriller co-starring Scott Glenn and Sam Neill.

Total Recall

When construction worker Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) discovers a memory chip in his brain durnig a virtual-reality trip, he also discovers that his past has been invensted to conceal a plot of planetary domination.  Soon, he's off to Mars to find out who he is and who planted the chip.

Die Hard 2: Die Harder

On a snowy Christmas Eve in the nation's capital, terrorists seize a major international airport, holding thousands of holiday travelers hostage.  Led by a murderous rogue officer (William Sadler), the renegade band of crack military commandos has come to rescue a drug lord from justice.  They've prepared for every contingency except one:  John McClane (Bruce Willis), an off-duty cop gripped with a feeling of deadly déjà vu.
