WEST ORANGE, N.J. Betty SimonLipsky, of West Orange, formerly of Troy, N.Y., died on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Daughters of Israel Nursing Home in West Orange shortly before her 100th birthday.

Mrs. Lipsky was born in Troy where she resided for many years before relocating to N.J. She was a graduate of Troy High School and the Albany State Teachers College. She was a teacher at Troy High School. She later worked with her late husband, Alfred in the family business, the former Troy Covering Company.

She was a lifelong member of Temple Beth El in Troy and its sisterhood as well as a lifelong member of Hadassah. She was married to Alfred Lipsky until his passing in 1968. She is survived by two daughters, Susan E. Faris and her husband Charles of Madison, N.J. and Rosalie Shea (Timothy "Buck" Moran) of Delmar, N.Y.; grandmother of Nina Barringer Isbitts of Clearwater, Fla. She is also survived by three great- grandchildren, Alex, Miranda and Hope.

Betty was predeceased by a son, Eugene Lipsky; two brothers, Morris and Bernard Simon as well as a sister, Rose Simon.
