Sharon Jenkins Hewitt

I attended the University of Alabama and UAB and received bachelor's and master's degrees from UAB. I married Billy Hewitt in 1973, immediately after college graduation. I taught English at Tarrant High School for 28 years, from 1974 until 2002, when I retired. Billy and I have traveled quite a bit, in Europe as well as in the US. We bought a condo in Orange Beach in 2004, right before Hurricane Ivan hit. Most of our travels now are to Orange Beach or Lay Lake, where we have a lake house. We have one daughter, Kelley, who was born in 1980. She is presently working for the Tarrant Board of Education, running a grant-based after-school program for elementary and intermediate school students. She is married to Matthew Javinett, who is from Connecticut and a Hoover firefighter. They presented us with our first grandchild, Lily Quinn, on February 9, 2010. She weighed 5 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. We spend as much time as possible with them at their home in Gardendale.
