40th Reunion of the Thomasville High School Class of 71
June 24, 25, and 26, 2011

    Ok, this is the second notice of the Reunion.  Please note that we have special rates at the Hampton Inn and the information is below.  Also, we have added an event for Sunday morning due to the generosity of Fondren and Melissa Rigsby.  But, we need you to RSVP either by sending the slip at the bottom with your check, or by emailing me and confirming you will attend.  The momentum is building, so please help me spread the word.  See you in a month or so!

    On Friday evening there will be a drop in at Raymond Hughes’ house at 628 Gordon Avenue, Thomasville, GA 31792 from 6:00 PM until 11:00 PM, or until Raymond insists we leave.  He says parking is available on the street on Gordon Ave and on Hill Street.  It will be a BYOB affair, but there will be some light hors d’oeuvres available as well.  This will be a wonderful time to meet and greet each other and to catch up on old times.

    On Saturday afternoon, there are two drop-ins for you to consider attending.  There are those of us who fondly remember the pool hall hot dogs and there will be a meeting at 12 Noon at the Billiard Academy right down town at 121 S Broad Street.  Of course, you’ll have to purchase your own hot dog and six and one-half ounce (6 ½) Coke, but it will be worth it.  Hopefully, we will have a big crowd and get to hang out together and talk about glory days.

    Meanwhile, for '71 GALS who want to gather (without hot dogs), you're invited to join Cindy Secrest, Claire Whitfield and Jenny Hamlet at "George & Louie’s Seafood Restaurant" right around the corner at noon on Saturday. It will be a low key and casual Girlfriends gathering and they will save you a seat if you email cindy@encouragingwords.net before June 19th. (If you plan to drop by George & Louies and you don’t know where it is, it is the old Burger Chef building on Remington Ave about 2 blocks off of Broad before you get to South Dawson St.)
 
    On Saturday evening, we will be gathering at the Thomasville Garden Center at 1102 South Broad Street, Thomasville, GA 31792 at 6:00 PM.  There is extra parking which should be available at Jerger Elementary School.  We will have a meal to be served at 7:00 PM and then music will be provided by Glen Waters from 8 until 11.  Now, we don’t have to leave at 11:00 PM, but the music has to stop then.  Tea and other drinks and mixers will be provided.  However due to expense and liability issues, the main even tof the reunion is BYOB.

    On Sunday morning, Fondren and Melissa Rigsby will host a continental breakfast at their home from 9:30 – 11:30.  For those on their way out of town or for those who need to finish up those conversations, this will be the perfect opportunity to say goodbyes until the next time.  Come and go when it is convenient.  The location is 1585 Fox Meadow Lane, Thomasville, GA  31792.  Their home phone 229-228-0446.  If you plan to attend, they need to know how many people will attend so they can have plenty of coffee for everyone.  Please either email me and tell me if you are going to be attending, or respond by checking the appropriate box on the enclosure and return it to Becky when you send your check in for your  reservation.

    The cost is set at $50 per person ($100 for a couple) and the funds will be deposited at Thomas County Federal.  Please make your check out to “THS Class of 71" and mail it to Becky Knight Bryant at 111 Fox Ridge Lane, Thomasville, GA 31792.  If any proceeds remain after the reunion, they will be kept on deposit at TCF and used for future reunions and class activities.

    If you are looking for a Bed and Breakfast, The Paxton House Bed and Breakfast is one of the best.  You can call them at 229-226-5197 and it is located on the corner of Remington and Hansel, close to the new high school location.
