Our 55th Reunion

 August 10 – 12, 2012

 

 

Friday, August 10thOpen House from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 pm at the Kuebler House (owned by Tiffin Seneca Public Library) 194 Riverside Dr. at corner of Hunter Street (same street as Pioneer Mill Restaruant).  Park in back of the house - off Hunter St.

                                 

Pop, water, small plates and napkins will provided but please bring snacks for nibbling.  No alcoholic beverages...please.   However, bring a lawn chair if you would like to sit outside at some time during the evening.

Saturday, August 11th

  • Golf Outing Howard Beisner and Bob Huffman are coordinating this.  "Meet us near food entrance at WalMart at 6:30 a.m.  We are going to Seneca Hill Golf Course. $29.00 per person for 18 holes of golf.   That price includes a cart."  If you haven't signed up, please contact Howard or Bob right away.
  • 1:00 p.m. lunch at Shellshucker’s Restaurant  located at Rts. 53 South and 224. Order from the menu with separate checks.
  • For those who would like to help set-up, please meet at AmVets S. SR 100 at 5:00 p.m.  If you would like to provide about 100 favors (something representing your town/business/interest), please drop them off at this time so that they can be placed on the tables.
  • At 6:00 p.m. the Social Hour begins at AmVets.  A cash bar will be provided. 
  • Between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. special pictures with your spouse, classmates, and elementary school groups can be taken, using our own cameras.
  • At 6:30 p.m., Maria Wahl, photographer, will take a group picture of our Class.
  • If you would like to provide a door prize, bring it wrapped with your name on it so the recipient can thank you.  Place it on the special door prize table in the banquet room.
  • The dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. It will be served buffet style.  The menu consists of Betty’s salad, Roast Beef in Au Jus, marinated boneless skinless chicken breast, baked potato, green beans and special decorated Tornado cake.  Coffee, tea, iced tea and water will be provided.  A separate table will be set up with a vegetable tray and dip for nibbling throughout the evening. The cost per person is $30.00.
  • After the dinner, we will have a welcome, brief meeting, remembrance of those classmates who have died and awarding of door prizes, followed by more reminiscing .

Sunday, August 12th - We will meet at 10:00 am for a Farewell Brunch at TJ Willies Restaurant, located in the Westgate area..

Columbian Class of 1957

Forty-four classmates and 26 guests of the Columbian High School Class of 1957 enjoyed a buffet dinner at the AMVETS Post 48 dining room Aug. 11. David Speas of Springfield gave the invo­cation.

Twenty-five members and guests met at the welcome home party at the Kuebler House Aug. 10. The next morning, three people played golf at Seneca Hills Golf Course. Thirty-two classmates and guests enjoyed lunch and conversation at Shell Shuckers Restaurant at 1 p.m.

Dave Speas.and John Stoner of Tiffin, co- chairmen, welcomed the class and con­ducted a brief business meeting to set the date and elect a steering committee for the 60-year reunion Aug. 12, 2017. Co- chairmen will be Speas, Joe Hartman of Tiffin and Don Kimmel of Ledera Ranch, Calif. Lucy Lather will take registrations and type the class booklet. Others assist­ing include the Beisners, Peggy Hunker Thallman, Carol Arbogast Engle, Vivian Baugher Blankenship. Clarice Fetters Kimmel and Loretta Reiter Bargaheiser. Goodwill ambassador will be Dean Shappell. Webpage designer will be Sarj Bloom of Jacksonville.

Special favors were large curved glass picture frames which included a picture of the “old Columbian High School” with each classmate s name superimposed on the picture. Around the edge were small pictures of events and Tiffin landmarks of the 1950s. These were made and pre­sented by Speas. Richard Roberts sent “Class of 1957” notepads from Klamath Falls, Ore. Each person present received a musical CD with '50s music made by Speas and a small bag of Ballreich chips given by Dennis Remy of Galion. Don and Clarice Kimmel donated royal blue T- shirts imprinted with the reunion date and tornadoes. A counted cross-stitch map of Tiffin was raffled off. The winner was Don­ald Brock of Cuyahoga Falls.

Door prizes and favors were donated by classmates and came from all over the country. Special recognition was given to Fred Michaels and Charles Mizen who were attending their first reunion. A group picture was taken by Maria Wahl.

Forty classmates and guests met at T.J. Willies Sunday morning before de­parting.
