50th Reunion

DETAILS

Tiffin Columbian's Class of 1959's 50th has been held.  All that remains are wonderful memories of a great weekend spent with friends.

Over 80 met at Hedges Boyer Park Barn on Friday night.  The first thing we saw as we walked up the drive to the barn were the 50's cars owned by Burt and Jane Park and Lee and Janet Reed.  Inside the barn, the tables were decorated with blue and yellow tablecloths, blue and yellow balloons, blue, yellow and white lights and a mirrored ball hanging over a dance floor.  50's music and laughter filled the air.

Rick (Class of 1971) and Jane (Class of 1978) Frederick did a super job of serving sandwiches, Ballreich Chips, Jolly's Rootbeer and homemade ice cream (vanilla, butter pecan and chocolate)on the patio on the backside of the barn.

Later in the evening, we were visited by members of the Class of 1958.

Saturday, we were joined by the Class of 1964 to tour Noble and Miami Street Schools (Tiffin University) in the morning and College Hill (Heidelberg University) and Clinton Schools in the afternoon.  We can proudly say that the Tiffin City Schools continue to be well maintained.  School opens in the district on Monday.

At noon, more than 40 classmates and spouses ate lunch together.

Saturday evening was so much fun!!!!!  126 classmates and spouses gathered inside the AmVets.  After a wonderful meal, Maria Wahl took us outside for pictures.  As Rob Hartsell so aptly stated, "It was like herding cats" to get us organized.

When we got back inside the building, Burt Park showed the picture DVD of classmates.  This was followed by a program by Jim Drake titled  "When a 3-cent Stamp Cost 3-cents."  Jim wove each of our birth dates into local, state, national and international news of the day.  Then, one by one, he honored each of the classmates who had died.  As Jim talked about the person, a candle was lit by Betty Hall and Jeff Fox.

Those who gathered for the Sunday Brunch were still talking about the fabulous time we had together.
