Scott, great ideas!  I know some classes have a 70th Birthday Bash to celebrate this milestone.  We could then still have a casual reunion.  We could each contribute a certain amount toward groceries to purchase the food and not have a catered dinner. The committee could prepare the food ( everyone willing). It surely is something to think about.  I just love that our class wants to get together more often than less often.  What a confirmation of the caring we have for one another.  Of course, we would have to have our 50s 60s music so we could dance, right Kathy?  Loved seeing you out there on the dance floor having a blast!

Thanks to all the committee who did the 50th class reunion. I think you did a amazing job.
This is the first reunion I went to and I was very impressed. We had fun dancing and the response was great. I met some of my classmates.  It was a great evening and I hope we have more reunions before the 55th reunion. Maybe we could have a picnic somewhere.  Please keep in touch and I was to thank everyone again. Ilze Balks (Berzins)

I think the idea of having a gathering in 3 years is excellent--who doesn't what to celebrate turning 70!  Let me know if I can be of any assistance in the planning if that is the direction the committee takes.  Enjoy what is left of summer--we treasure every day here in Minnesota.  Take care classmates.  Margie

I had a fabulous time and am so glad I came and got to see everyone. Why not do Amvets and use a caterer. Let them do the work and we can have all the fun ! Thanks to everyone who came and to the classmates who( did all the work.( Sorry, a 70th B-Day Party)

I am in total agreement that we should make our get togethers closer as get older. A day long picnic at Hedges is something to think about as well. Thanks again to the committee who worked so hard and made memories for us all. Hope to see even more classmates at our next gathering.
Blessings,
Cathy

Agree with Scott's idea! It may be the last time many of us will be able to get-to-gether as we did for the 50th. Not looking forward to being 70 however.

I would love to see a party for turning 70.  Age is just a number and we are all GREAT!  I have enjoyed looking at all the pictures and seeing how much fun everyone had at the reunion.  Hopefully at that time there will be no family obligations to stop me from attending.

I to agree with Scott's idea - and also to simplyfy and very informal.  Was good to see some old friends that we don't see often.  Several others I mentioned liking the Friday nite informal time better.  Hugs to everyone and special hug to Janny (and you know why)  Sue (Bowersox) Madden

I like the 70th birthday idea -- and I loved casual night. (At our ages, it seems so much easier to be casual.)

The AMVETS is nice because there was plenty of space to mingle both inside & out and we all got to talk and visit more easily than we do at the formal night where everything is more structured and tables are so close together.

I'm sure someone in the Tiffin area has a "boom box" and among us, I'm sure we could come up with some great CD's for dancing. Because there will be plenty of space, those who can't/don't dance can visit and mingle.  (Kind of reminiscent of Friday night Skateland dances, except better :) )

I thought about Hedges Boyer, too, but weather could be a factor, and some might have difficulty walking over uneven terrain to get from their cars to the shelter. (Some might also have difficulty sitting at the picnic benches instead of tables & chairs. )

Many times grocery stores or deli's have platters & cooked food for catering that are EXCELLENT. That might be an inexpensive alternative to a company that only does catering with the large steamers, etc.

Like Margie, I would love to help any way I can.

Gloria

Hi everyone,

Just got back from Portland, Oregon, where our son and his family just moved.  I was able to get together with Nan Shawber while I was there.  She moved there just a year ago and was very sad not to be able to attend the reunion.

We actually had been talking about a 70th birthday party.  Jim's class is having one this year and Reino's is catering it.  Yum!!!

I think the Amvets would be great.  I don't know whether or not we would have to use them for the food but I think maybe not.  We will check that out.

Thanks to everyone who came this year.  Once again,  I didn't get around to talk with everyone and that is disappointing.  Both evenings went so quickly and there was so much to do.  I, for one, definitely do not want to wait another five years, so we'll get the ball rolling.

Thanks to all of you who made extra donations this time and thanks for the up front offers already.

Love to you all.

Janny

HI, I think we should have 70th birthday party too. Mine is coming up in a year and I would love to see my buddies from high school.  Hedges Boyer park would be great. I  try to come even if weather is cold. It could be informal and  fun to see everyone again. Ilze

Mikayla Dull, once again, has a phenomenal season.  Congratulations to her and her family.  I know Pete and Betty are very proud, as they should be.  Go Mikayla!  Won at State!

Kayla Dull's state championship career reminds me of one of the most glaring omissions in the Columbian Athletic Hall of Fame. Pete Dull should be a Columbian Hall of Famer. A few years ago, I submitted a packet to the current THS althletic director in support of Pete's candidacy. Nothing happened. In fact I don't think the Columbian HOF committee is even active now.

If you agree with me that Pete deserves a HOF plaque, let's start a Class of '64 campaign correct this injustice.

I suggest e mailing or writing Mr.Derek Lewis, Athletic Director, Columbian High School, 300 S.Monroe Street, Tiffin, OH 44883. Mr. lewis can be e mailed directly from the Tiffin City Schools website.

Think this should be looked into.  What kind of requirements are needed for this honor?

Like Butch Assenheimer, Pete's son also contacted me about 5 years ago to write a supporting letter for his dad's Hall of Fame placement.  I happily did so, and then I just assumed it would happen....how could it not?  Sorry to hear that it still hasn't come to being.  lndeed, let us as a class contact Mr. Lewis, the Eureka City Schools Athletic Director, and urge the reconsideration of Pete's induction.  Here is his Email address:

I sent a letter to Derek Lewis on behalf of Pete Dull.  It's a good idea, and it would be nice to see this happen for him.

Also, I agree that our next Class Reunion Party should be in three years!  I'm in!!!

I loved seeing you all and I agree that the committee worked hard and made it very special for us.  Thanks!

After seeing Karen (Whitmer) Wellman is having a birthday soon, I think it would be good for those who want to wish her a Happy Birthday, to send a card in care of Good Shepherd Home where she is presently residing.  The address is: Karen Wellman, Good Shepherd Home, 725 Columbus Ave.,Fostoria, Ohio 44830.  She would probably like to hear from you.  Thanks, Judy (Seifert) Scherger
