I actually got to know more about Sandi years after graduation than while in school. Our paths crossed again one day; and we became good friends. Sandi contracted Polio when she was eight yrs. old; and spent the rest of her life in a wheel chair. She was very kind towards people...never complained about her situation...just accepted the hand that was dealt to her in life. She was very smart; and would read all the time...especially the Bible.
After she passed away in a nursing home in New Philadelphia, Ohio, I received a Valentine email from her that she apparently had dated it in advance to be emailed out to her friends on Valentine's Day. Not sure if she felt she would not be around that day or what; but I sat before my computer with tears rolling down my face. I'm really sorry she can't be with us for the class reunion; but know she is happy where she is at because she always looked forward to the day she would be whole again and able to walk. Miss you Sandi. Judy (Seifert) Scherger
