Comments:    I didn't graduate from Lincoln. I left school in 1966 and moved to New York, where I lived until recently relocating to Indianapolis, Indiana.

School Story:    Prof. Terry all ways come to mind. If you didn't want to have class on a certain day, just start him talking about something else. He could go on for the full hour. But come test time, you better know it. He didn't play that.
My cousin Gene Ross was a prankster. One day he said to me " those shoes are cute, let me see one"
I gave him one, he put it in his back pocket and walked out of my home room in Mr. White's class. I'm hopping around on one foot, I sent Cora for my shoe and he refused to send it back. Mr. White
(my savior) came back to the room, observed me
with a shoe missing said, " Polk, where's your shoe"
I told him Gene had it in the gym and wouldn't give it back. Mr. White rushed from the room and returned a couple minutes later, shoe in hand. Thank you Mr. White.
Mr. Smith, my music teacher, God bless him. I wish a thousand times I had been more dedicated because I love the piano and organ now. But then I hated music. I (and a few more) would skip his class. So he started stopping by our prior class before his to see who all were really present. Once we enter the room he would lock the door so we couldn't sneak out. But I set in the back by the windows that tilted out and my cousin would come and lift me out. I would see Mr. Smith the next day and he would have a puzzled look on his face, " Polk, did you take my class yesterday? "
Yes sir, I signed in. I'm very sorry Mr. Smith.
That's just a few memories.
