Sonya Maria Martinez, 42, Topeka, died February 3, 2007. She was born February 4, 1964, in Holton, KS. She leaves to cherish memory, her memory, her loving family, her son Jacob Buscher, Ozawkie; mother, Nadine Martinez, Topeka; brother, Richard Martinez, Topeka; nephews, Tristian Johnson, Devin, and Caden Martinez, aunt and uncle, Mary Jane and Benny Hernandez, cousins, Angela Hernandez and Ryan Hernandez, Topeka; Jennifer Smythe, New Orleans, LA, and best friend, Jesse Wood, Topeka, KS. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, and was an employee of the state of Kansas for fifteen years, and most recently worked for St. Francis Hospital. She graduated from Topeka High School, Class of 82 attended Washburn University, and graduated from Kaw Area Technical School, and was a life long resident of North Topeka. Sonya deeply loved her family, her music, and was a faithful member of her church. She was also a member of Prairie Band of Pottawatomie Nation. She was a kind, generous, gentle woman, who will be missed deeply and remembered always.
