OVERLAND PARK- John David Beach, 51, Overland Park, KS passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Overland Park, KS; burial in the Antioch Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mark's United Methodist Church or Rotary International. John was born February 21, 1957 in Topeka, KS to Richard and Mary Alice (Bailey) Beach. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1975 and earned his BS degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas TX in 1979. While attending college, John was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Following college, John began working at Arthur Andersen & Co. and then joined the consulting side which became Andersen Consulting and later changed its name to accenture. St. Mark's United Methodist Church was very important to John. He was treasurer for the church and a former lay leader of the Kansas City District of the Kansas East Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was president of the United Methodist Men at St. Mark's and was district treasurer for the United Methodist Men. John was a very active Rotarian in the Johnson County Rotary Club. He was editor of their weekly bulletin and served on the executive board and was a recipient of the Rotary's Paul Harris Fellowship. John was an accomplished cellist and was in the Kansas All-State orchestra while in high school. On March 27, 1988, John married Jean Elizabeth. Berry at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Overland Park. Most of all, John enjoyed being a father. He coordinated the Dads Of Great Students Watch D.O.G.S. program at the Pleasant Ridge Elementary School. John was a committee member of the Boy Scouts of America and assistant Cub Master of Den 8, Pack 3210. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jean E. Beach; son, Brian David Beach; father and mother, Dr. Richard and Mary Alice Beach, Lenexa, KS; sister, Nancy Miller and her husband, Clyde, Overland Park, KS; brother, Robert Beach, Fukuoka City, Japan; father- and mother-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Keith T. and Marcia Berry, Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Karen Berry, Union, NJ; brother-in-law, David Berry and his wife, Melissa, Fishers, IN; two nieces and six nephews.
