West High is turning the BIG 50 !!
Friday, September 21, 2012 pre-game celebration 4-6:30pm
Saturday, September 22, 2012 Open House, 10-3pm
Saturday, September 22, 2012 Celebration/Reception 5-11:30pm
West High is hosting 50th Anniversary events on campus with no charge (with the exception of the football game, $7).
On Friday, September 21, the Pre-Game Celebration will include: archives available in the Pavilion for viewing, possible alumni activities, as well as a presentation of a 50th year plaque for the school.
Saturday, September 22 we will be hosting an Open House campus walk-through for Alumni and families. We will have past faculty present in their old classrooms as well as current and past coaches and directors of our outstanding athletic teams and performing groups available on campus to share fond memories with.
There is NO charge for the Open House or the Pre-Game Celebration.
Alumni and past faculty members are organizing other events that will take place off-campus during this same weekend.

Opened in September, 1962. (45 acres obtained in 1959 for $703,000).
Additions in 1963, 1967, 1968, 1974. Reinforced concrete, 240,562 sq. ft., 9 buildings, 92 classrooms.
Construction cost: $7,238,000.
Serves area bounded by 190th Street, Hawthorne, Sepulveda and west city boundary.
Peak enrollment: 2,692 in 1976. Solar gym and other additions completed, 1976 at cost of $1,308,000.
Capacity: 3,000.
