WYNANTSKILL - Joseph F. Gondella, 70, husband of Mary (Pat) Trepanier Gondella, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys Saville Gondella. He attended Wynantskill Elementary School and was a graduate of the Class of 1955 at Troy High School. He was employed for many years as an optical technician at Teledyne-Gurley in Troy, retiring eight years ago. In retirement, he worked part time for Enterprise Rent a Car in Brunswick. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill and a former member of the Troy Lodge of Elks. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gondella is survived by his children Scott (Nancy) Gondella of Wallingford, VT, and Deborah Ellis of Colorado Springs, CO; a stepdaughter, Deborah Leonard of New Jersey; a brother, Robert (Beverly) Gondella of Ballston Spa; five grandchildren, Jamey, Nicole, Cris, Alanna and Shannon; six great-grandchildren, Dominick, Matthew, Shyanne, Logan, Alexis and Rachael; and several nephews. The funeral will be from the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road in Wynantskill, on Friday at 8:45 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Salvatore Rodino, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations to the St. Jude the Apostle Church Memorial Fund, 43 Brookside Ave., Wynantskill, NY 12198, in memory of Mr. Gondella would be appreciated.
