In Memory

Janet Murphy (Zeller)

Janet Murphy was born on April 17, 1937 to Kenneth H. and Marie V. ( Wolfe) Murphy in Troy.
Janet was a devoted wife to her husband Wayne T. Zeller for 57 years, who predeceased her in 2013. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was compassionate and loving to both people and animals. Those who loved Janet will remember her as one of the best! Her family was her entire world. Her constant presence will continue to “dance” in their hearts forever. She was a woman who gave so much of herself to the people she loved, dancing, laughing, cooking or praying for good test grades. If you had the privilege to know and love her, she made sure that you knew how much she loved and cared for you as well. While sick this past year, she made sure her family had enough of her love and strength in their hearts to last a lifetime, even after she left this earth.
Janet worked as a clerk for the NYS Retirement System for over 20 years. She was a vivacious, outgoing person and a devoted fan of the NY Yankees. She earned the nickname “Superstar” after a recent surgery because she was not going to let anything slow her down. Not one for sitting around, she was a member of the Happy Hookers, Uncle Sam’s Sparklers and Kevin Richards Country Kickers. She loved to give back to her community. She was a proud volunteer at the Troy, Sycaway and Halfmoon Senior Centers and held several R.O.U.S.E. offices including Secretary and most recently, Vice President.
Janet was not only the beloved mother, but also a friend to Laura (Marc) Mattiske, Fuzzy “Tom” (Cindy) Zeller, Deborah Zeller, Kenneth “Kenya” “Keggy” Zeller, the cherished grandmother and friend to Kristin Zeto, Derek Zeller and Nick Zeller. She is also survived by her brother, George (Ruth) Murphy, sisters, Edna Jordan, Sandra Popson, Carol Jones, sisters-in-law, Anne Murphy, Joyce Zeller and a brother-in-law, Joe ( Martha) Rounds.
In addition to her husband Wayne, she was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Murphy, Kenneth Murphy and brothers-inlaw, Gerald Jordan, Eddie Popson and Pete Jones.
A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, at 6:00 pm at the United Church of Cohoes. Parking is available across the street and adjacent to Smith’s restaurant.
