Thank you Ann for the sad news of Miss  Rourke's death.

My memories of Miss (there was no "Ms" in 1957, and we certainly did not use our teachers first names) Rourke are all happy ones.  She was fresh air and enthusiasm and, despite the fact that she was not "our" advisor, nevertheless made a real and positive contribution to the well being of the THS Class of 1957.  Miss Lewis was, of course, our leader, confessor and conscience, but Miss Rourke was her friend and the conspiracies between the two regulated the lives of our class and many others, including my brother Steve's class of 1960 for which Miss Rourke acted as advisor, I believe.  I am not sure they make high school teachers like Miss Rourke and Miss Lewis any more, which is a pity.  They enriched our lives.

Today I turned 74, and I sure miss the ole days of our childhood.  The rules and laws were set in cement in those days, not like in our day today.

It seems that everyone wants to change the system to make it easier for the whole population.

Gays rights and the trillions of dollars our country owes is just crazy.

Just not too good in my eyes. My daughter says I shouldn't post my feelings to the outside, but that's how I feel about things these days.

I am currently visiting my daughter out in Concord,Ca.

Take care of yourselves.

Your friend and classmate, Bob

AS  we approach this Thanksgiving, I realize how lucky I have been. My wife Jean (mancinelli) has been by my side since 1956 , She almost single handedly raised our five children while I was involved in two careers(US NAVAL Reserve) and Computer Tech/ Manager and then Director of NYS Naval Militia. My children are all still alive and somewhat healthy, and I am lucky to have four grandchildren. Although I have COPD, I manage to still play golf(weather permitting). I have been fortunate to travel the world both with the Navy and Honeywell and now Jean is doing all the traveling, she just returned from Hawaii, she has been to Korea, China, Italy, Alaska, Multiple trips to Virginia and Florida and at least once a year to Texas where my youngest son lives. So I hope all my classmates have as much to give thanks for as I do.

Happy Thanksgiving  and enjoy the coming Holidays.

Hello Fellow Classmates,

Since Jean McCoy passed away, its been heavy on my mind and heart, that we lost a charming and smart classmate in Jean.

As each of you know, that we never know when it will be our time to leave this world of ours. So please make the best of your lives, tell someone dear to you how you feel about them, share your knowledge with others..

Take short trips with your wife/husband, enjoy the changing of the trees, smell the sweetness of the air around you.

I recently came back from Nevade and saw the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park in Utah, on the way we flew to Texas to see The Alamo.

So long for now.

Bob,

There are no words I can offer that will be equal to the significance of your circumstance. I say this so you understand that I know that although my thoughts may be of some little comfort, they will remain wanting.

That said, you and I and any of us still remaing at this point have enjoyed a long hopefully happy life. We have lived through a prosperous and very comfortable period in history for most Americans. We avoided most of the hardships our parents endured and I am afraid may be in store for our progeny.

From birth we have before us the prospect of death, however distant that may seem. For us we have outlived the predictions of the future from our youth as outlined in Orwell's "1984" or Clarke's "2001" and "2010", however pessimistic or optimistic.

So in the time remaining, perhaps we can find solace in the happy memories of good times and our accomplishments and successes in our past.

Here's hoping that in the time remaining, you find solace in your memories and comfort from your faith with as little discomfort as possible from your affliction.

And ofcourse, let us hope there has been a mistake or there will be a wecome response to treatment followed by remission. Or perhaps hope lies in some alternative therapy such as cannabis. It has been said that where there is life there is hope.

You are not alone. Sooner or later, one way or another, we will all be with you.

Warm regards,

Al Lococo

Hi Bob.

Thank you for always being a very special person .  I am grateful that you were in my life.  I am still working on the wonderful crossword puzzle that you created for me, and maybe, someday I will actualy finish it.

Bob, we do not know what each day brings, as life is full of surprises, both  good and bad, but I have a special prayer that has halped me get through many difficult moments.  I hope you don't mind if I share it with you.

THERE'S A REASON

For every pain that we must bear,      For every burden, every care,

                                         Theres's a reason.

For every grief that bows the head     For every tear drop that is shed,

                                          There's a reason

For every hurt, every plight,     For every lonely, pain-racked night,

                                          There's a reason

But if we trust God as we should,     All must work out for our good,

He (YES, ONLY GOD)........KNOWS THE REASON

This prayer was given to me during some very difficult times, and for you, just know that four months is not a contract.  It can change, and if it does,"HE" does know the reason and ,"why."  We have to be strong enough to trust God;s plans.

My prayers are with you and your family,

Mabel Collins
