Bernice McCormack (Caldwell)

 
FOREST, VA - Bernice Madsen McCormack Caldwell of Forest VA, formerly of Troy, went peacefully into eternal life at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA, on April 3, 2010, after a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen McCormack and loving wife of James Caldwell.

Bernice graduated from Troy High School in 1964. She then continued her nursing education at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington, VT, and graduated in 1965 with her nursing degree.

She spent many years of her life in the healthcare community, working for the benefit of others.

She loved spending time with her friends and family, whether it was entertaining or baking cookies with her grandchildren, one of her favorites was cooking, and there was always a seat at the table for you. She enjoyed traveling, had a special talent for dollhouses, cake decorating and was always looking for that special treasure.

After relocating to Virginia, she enjoyed the warmer weather and especially loved floating in the pool.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by and was the loving mother of Thomas (Kimberly) Maloney, formerly of Eagle Mills and now residing in Stanwood, WA, Timothy (Colleen) Maloney of Hoosick Falls, Laura (Brian) Caldwell of Selkirk, Kim (Thomas) Thibault of Castleton and James (Adrienne) Caldwell of Hampton Roads, VA. Sister of Matthew (Joan) McCormack of Valley Falls. Cherished sister of Maryhelen (Steven) Culver of Wynantskill. Loving grandmother of Caitlin, Megan, Brianna, and Cullen Maloney of Stanwood, WA, Tommy, Jimmy, Sarah and Kate Thibault of Castleton, Aoife Maloney and Joshua and Ronan Hoag of Hoosick Falls. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas (Joan) McCormack of Albany. Adored by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be from the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, on Friday at 10:15 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
