Athens — Eugene Senyckyj was born December 20, 1946 in Munich, Germany to parents Petro and Vera Senyckyj.  He went to his heavenly home on the morning of Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his home in Athens.

Gene’s family migrated to the United States when he was five years old.  He graduated high school in Troy, New York and went on to continue his education at OIT in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He relocated to Texas in the early 1980’s.

Gene was employed at Elder Dodge and O’Reilly’s Auto Parts before his retirement.

Gene is survived by his wife, Marlyn Senyckyj. Three daughters; Wendi, Dustie and Joey and three sons; Eric, Barrett and Mason. He is also survived by two stepdaughters; Stephanie and Misty and one stepson, Shawn. One stepson, Daniel, preceded him in death. He is also survived by 21 combined grandchildren.

The family will have a celebration of life for Gene on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 2 pm at the home of Barrett and Mason Senyckyj, Athens, Texas.

I was surprised and saddened to get the email saying that Gene had been added to "In Memory". We had last shared our memories of our days at THS around the time of his birthday one year ago on 12/20/12. We had both hoped to see each other at the next reunion but I guess it was not meant to be. My condolences and prayers go out to his family in their time of loss and sorrow. Gene was a good soul and I will remember him fondly.
