Kenneth J. Yearsley – THS 1963
Brunswick- Kenneth “Ken” J. Yearsley, 67, a former resident of Pittstown for 37 years and Center Brunswick since 2010, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany following a brief illness. Born in Troy, September 16, 1944, Ken was the son of the late Schuyler and Mary Regina (Geisel) Yearsley Sr. and for over 43 years, the husband of Gail Yearsley of Eagle Mills who survives. Ken and Gail were married in 1966. After graduating Troy High School in 1963, Ken enlisted in the United States Navy in February, 1964. He was stationed at the Great Lakes Training School earned the rank of E-2 and was honorably discharged in late 1964. For more than 25 years Ken was employed by the New York State, Department of Corrections working as a corrections officer at both the Mt. McGregor and Great Meadows facilities. At the time he retired from state service in 2003, he had earned the rank of Sergeant. More recently he was employed since 2001 as a security guard at the Saratoga Gaming and Raceway. Ken was a former member of St. George Church in Pittstown and a life member of the Pittstown Volunteer Fire Company where he had held several offices. He was a 30-year member, former captain and past president of the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps where he was a CPR and First Aid Instructor, an EMT and also served on the Board of Directors. Additionally he was a member of the Center Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company and active in the Fire Police and a member of the Brunswick B.P.O.E. Lodge #2556. In his quiet time Ken enjoyed the hobbies of fishing, traveling, playing the organ and “de-stressing” with his dog Moose and watching his fish tank. His survivors include his children, Nadine Yearsley of Pittstown, Thomas Yearsley of Eagle Mills and Daniel Yearsley of Averill Park, his step-mother, Carol Yearsley of Clifton Park, seven brothers and sisters, Michael McCarroll, Patrick (Jill) McCarroll, Laurie McCarroll, Kim Call, John (Stephanie) Yearsley, Gary Yearsley, Erin (William) Shambach, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a very special companion and world's best girlfriend, Sandra Horton of North Troy. A brother, the late Schuyler Yearsley Jr. predeceased him. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps in Pittstown. Burial, with military honors will take place at the convenience of the family, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery in Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invite to call at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. on Friday, May 25th from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions, at Ken's request, if desired, may be made to the P.V.E.C., 60 Parker School Road, Johnsonville, NY 12094 in memory of Kenneth J. Yearsley. Funeral service details are under the direction of the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown.
