Chuck died April 1968 in Vietnam, just 10 days before coming home to Troy and his family.

***********In Loving Memory Of A much loved Kid From South Troy******* Sgt. Charles "Chuckie" Anthony Majer. C Company,1st Bn.6th Infantry Regiment, 198 Inf.Bde... was K.I.A. 46 years ago 10 april 1968....Sgt.Charles Majer and two of his comrades, Spc 4 Robert W Madson,Alton, IL. and Pfc.Jesse L Willougby,St Charles IL. were killed outright by mortar fire as they bravely manned their night defensive position in Quang Tin, Vietnam...Affectionally called "Chuckie" by many, was the beloved son of Mr and Mrs Walter Majer of Madison st. in South Troy..Born 3 July 1946 .He was also survived by four sisters ,Joan,Alicia,Patricia and Susan...Chuckie attended St. Josephs school in south Troy and on to Troy High where he graduated in 1964. At Troy High he played JV Basketball..Chuckie attended Hvcc before taking a job as a machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal, where he worked before being drafted into the Army in 1966.. Sgt.Charles A Majer was buried with full Military honors in St Josephs Cemetery in Troy. His grave can be found in row 407 lot #3/4 4-n. along side his father a WWII veteran and his Mother...Chuckie loved by many, We remember you always.....
