J. Baker Obituary

THE VILLAGES, Fla. - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of J. Paul Baker, a dear brother, father and papa, on April 16, 2023.
Paul was a lifelong military man who had a distinguished career in both the U.S. Army and the N.Y.S. Army National Guard. Paul started his career with the U.S. Army in 1969 and served as an officer in the Vietnam War. In 1972, Paul moved to serve in the N.Y.S. Army National Guard. Over his 27-year career with the Army National Guard, Paul served in a variety of progressive career assignments, both command and staff, including but not limited to controller, battalion commander, and special investigations officer. He achieved the rank of colonel (retired) and was promoted to brigadier general (state retire list) effective July 1, 1999.
Paul is survived by his son, Mark and his wife, Andrea Baker; and his daughter, Allyne Baker and her partner, Rick Bertrand. He leaves behind three grandchildren, Kaila and her partner Nick, Joss, and Keira; one great-grandchild, Kallie; and four loving siblings and their spouses, Carl (Katherine) Baker, Bruce (Gail) Baker, Lynn (Bob) Meyer, and Carol O'Brien. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew.
Paul loved spending time with his brothers, especially Carl who was his brother, best friend, and protector in his later years. A man of great faith, Paul was comforted by the thought of returning home, being reunited with his parents, Gen. John C. and Marjorie Baker, and sitting with the Lord.
Paul will receive full military honors on Thursday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Very sorry to hear this. Paul was a good friend way back when. I remember the parties in his basement. My condolences to his family.
