Daly, Charles H. CASTLETON Charles Henry Daly of Castleton and Delray Beach, Fla., died suddenly on October 15, 2017. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend for 43 years, Roberta K. Daly. He was the father of Edward (Stephanie), Sarah (Paul) Tacy and Megan; brother of William Daly (2010), Jeff Daly (Gary Delemeester) and Beth Johns (Rob); and brother-in-law of Janis and Thomas Lumley. He was the proud grandfather of Benjamin and Shannon Tacy, Jackson and Markham Daly and Gabriel Daly. Chuck, as he was known to his friends and family, was born in Troy, and attended college in Vermont and New York City. He traveled the world from Ireland to Belize and beyond with his wife. Chuck was a retired contract administrator from the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. Chuck was the most proud of his cherished family. He was an avid golfer and member of the Troy AOH golf league for nearly 40 years, which he shared with his son, Ed. His family has fond memories of Chuck and Roberta making their annual trek to Florida, to spend winters. They had adventures exploring southern Florida and welcoming regular visits from family and friends. For over 35 years, the Daly's have been going to Friends Lake in the Adirondacks each summer, which is a tradition now passed on to the next generation. Chuck lived his life to the fullest and exactly how he wanted to. This may be the most profound impression and lesson he passed to people closest to him. Chuck enjoyed easy conversations with just about anyone, often infusing humor in each encounter. Calling hours are Thursday, October 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home at 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton. Family, friends and loved ones of Chuck are welcome to join in the celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Castleton Volunteer Ambulance Squad, C/O 1700 Brookview Road, Castleton, NY 12033.

So sad to hear this news about Chuck. He was one of my best pals at THS. Enjoyed the times we played golf together and him always rooting us on to victory on the basketball court. All the best to his family.

I am so saddened to hear about  Chuck -  a warm, kind, funny, delightful human being and a great friend to me dating back to the neighborhood, School 16, and Boy Scouts. The fondest of memories are flooding back to me.

It's always a sad occasion when one of our THS class passes away. My memories of Chuck go back to 1956 when I moved to Troy from Long Island. His family lived in a big house on the corner of Hoosick and Burdett. We attended School 18 together and walked down Hoosick St from Sycaway after school. He was involved in Pee-Wee Hockey and convinced me to join even though I had never ice skated before. We were good friends for two years at which point my family moved to Pawling Ave and I started at School 16. We stayed in touch every Saturday morning playing on the same Pee-Wee Hockey team. But, alas, the friendship faded. Our paths didn't cross as often but we always had a smile and kind words for each other when they did. It is so nice to see that Chuck had a good life, a big family, and friends, however brief, that will always carry fond memories of him. My sincere condolences go out to Chuck's family.

Steve, not sure if you remember me. I played with you and Chuck on the golf team and loved it. Having moved away right after high school, I lost track of all you folks. Chuck was so much fun to be around as was Shannon, you and the rest of the crew. I also loved watching you and Jewry play ball. Peace. Paul Sullian
