Devery, Kyran M. WYNANTSKILL Kyran Michael Patrick Devery, 72, of Wynantskill died peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2018, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Troy on May 4, 1946, Kyran was the youngest son of the late James Devery and Catherine (Flynn) Devery. After graduating from Troy High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Sierra as a hospital corpsman during the Vietnam War. After returning to Troy, Kyran met his wife and best friend of 48 years, Phyllis (Montarello). Kyran received two degrees from H.V.C.C., an associate's in liberal arts and an associate's in labor relations. He worked at G.E. and Ford Motors before taking a job as the Al-Tech Specialty Steel Supervisor, where he worked for 20 years. After Al-Tech, Kyran took a job at Riverside Enterprises as an employment officer and worked there until his retirement in 2008. Kyran was heavily involved in local politics and was a member of the Youth Advisory Board in his community. He was also the Receiver of Taxes for 25 years where he was instrumental in driving tax exemption for veterans of the town of North Greenbush. He was the proud and loving father of three daughters, Joanne (Giuseppe) Molaro, Bridget (Justin) Marlowe and Kate (Dovid) Eisenman. He is survived by his three grandchildren, Aiden, Hogan, and Leo. Kyran is also survived by his brother James (MaryAnne) Devery; his two sisters, Mary (the late William) Desapio and Catherine (the late Joseph) Elgeiser; brother-in-law Paul (Nancy) Montarello; and mother-in-law Rose (the late Angelo) Montarello; as well as many nieces and nephews. Kyran was an avid golfer and tremendous athlete. One of his greatest golf achievements took place on June 27, 2004, at the Town of Colonie golf course after he scored a hole in one during a round of golf with the late Bill "Squibbs" McCaffrey, John "Jack" Perkinson, and Tony P. He also loved fishing with his grandchildren, horse racing, history, and trivia. A special thanks to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, and the oncology department at St Mary's Hospital for their care and support. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third St, Troy. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3, in St. Jude's Church, 43 Brookside Ave, Wynantskill, NY, 12198.
