KAREN BROWER WOOD Deceased 10/5/02

FROM HER HUSBAND:
I received your notification for the Class of ‘68's 35th reunion party and I regret that I must report the death of my wife Karen Brower Wood on October 5, 2002.
She graduated from Troy High, as you know and from there received a BA from SUNY at Oswego and an MA from SUNY Potsdam. She worked several years as a nursery school teacher before taking a job at Fort Drum New York. Here, as Child Developmental Services Coordinator, she established Fort Drum’s first childcare facilities. In her eighteen years of employment and under her leadership, she established one of FORSCOM’s most exceptional facilities. Before her retirement, she built a program, which offered care to all children on Fort Drum from 6 month’s to 18 years. She managed three childcare centers through which 750 children would pass daily. She was responsible for over one hundred and fifty staff members and a budget in excess of ten million dollars. She truly loved her work with children and we all will miss her.

We were married for 30 years and together we saw two children graduate from college. Peter from SUNY at Binghamton and Briana from SUNY at Geneseo. Peter is now working as an Indiana State Trooper and concurrently has been accepted into the University of Valparaiso as a first year law student. He is married to Darcy and they expect their first child in March. Briana is now working at Byron-Bergen High School (Rochester area) in her sixth year of teaching Physics and Earth Science. I know she would be happy, if all her best were to be conveyed to her classmates and to wish them all well.   Francis Wood.
