I learned of Steve's death in 1996. I have blocked out much of what I was told as I was in shock. It was a day that stopped my life as I knew it in one way and then started a new phase. Steve and I were not the best of friends spending tons of time together, but he had imparted a deep wisdom when we had been in shared company. When Steve died, I realized for the first time that life is fragile. I remember thinking, "What are you waiting for?" rather often. So, I started making better choices for myself as a person. And, my memories of his conversations and who he was as a person resonated with me. Live. Love. Laugh. Reach out to others and leave a part of who you are to add to their lives...
