Doug, 59, of Phoenix, AZ passed way March 1st surrounded by family. Doug was a devoted husband, father, a friend to everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his humor, compassion and thoughtfulness. Born on Feb. 17,1951 in Buffalo, NY, he moved with his family to Tucson, AZ in 1958. He was an accounting graduate of University of Arizona. He recently retired from the State Auditor General's Office after 30 years and fulfilled his dream of opening his own CPA firm. He found time to indulge his love of travel, cruising, and aviation as a private pilot. He held AZ Senior Olympics and The Phoenix Zoo's Wildest Club close to his heart. He was also an active member in many professional accounting organizations. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas R. and Elizabeth Haywood. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Kathy, daughter Mary, sisters Lynn Hensley (Ken) and Suzanne Bronder (Charles) and nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 12 at 1 pm at 1st United Methodist Church, 215 E. University Dr. Tempe, AZ.
