Sorry to see Margairta on the in memory collumn.  She was our class valedictorian.  I went to medical school with her at Arizona. She was very quiet.

I am very sorry to hear this news.  Margarita was a brilliant and wonderful person.  I really enjoyed classes with her.

Thanking the Reunion Committee for sharing information concerning Margarita Martinez, it was an honor to have been her friend.  To my knowledge, Margarita was the only student in our class to have earned straight A’s for the entire four years at Palo Verde.  Coincidentally, she also was, as far as I know, the only student from Cuba in our class.  At school, Margarita’s smiling congeniality would offer to those around her, a gentle glow of goodness, a concordance of cheerfulness, warmth, and understanding.  We played a piano duet together, and her harmonious and supportive rapport has endured in memory.  Margarita's peaceable and receptive demeanor, spirit of humility, and inherent virtue without hesitation or motive, were unassuming in genuineness and kindness.  It was an honor to have been her friend.

I met Margarita when she first arrived from Cuba. She and her older sister rode the bus from Indian Ruins to school. At the time, she spoke more Spanish than English, but within months, she was as compotent in English as she was in Spanish! Seeing her name and her face floods me with pleasant memories of the time we spent together. I am sad at her passing, and I wish her family well!

Although I was not a close friend, I did know Margarita and was so downcast to see that she had died. She posessed a certain old-world cache, derived I'm sure from her Cuban heritage, that I found so charming. And such an intellect! I did a little investigating and found that she practiced medicine in Tucson--no surprise there but thought to myself, "...nowadays, 59 is way too young to die." I am proud to have know her. Rest well, Margarita--viya con Dios!

MARGARITA WAS VERY CLOSE TO ME THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL. I LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT THE CUBAN SIDE OF THE BAY OF PIGS. WE WERE YOUNG BUT WHENEVER CASTRO WAS MENTIONED SHE WOULD SPIT ON THE GROUND. WHEN  I SPENT THE NIGHT AT HER UNCLE AND AUNT'S HOME, IT WAS JUST GREAT.I ENJOYED HER CULTURE AND HER GREAT MIND. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN TALKING ABOUT GUYS. SHE LIKED GUYS IN THE CHOIR. SHE CAME TO MY WEDDING IN 1974. UNFORTUNATELY .WE LOST TOUCH WHEN SHE WAS DOING HER INTERNSHIP IN PEDS AT TMC AND I WAS IN CALIFORNIA. SHE WILL BE DEARLY MISSED AND ALWAYS IN MY HEART!
