Judith Peterson

Judith Peterson

Judith Claire Peterson, 58, of Flagstaff died on Aug. 7, 2009, at the Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born on July 16, 1951, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Richard Frederick and Rita Fredericka Hofstee Peterson.

As a young girl, Judy and her family moved from New York and made Arizona their home. For many years, Judy worked as a registered nurse for the Flagstaff Medical Center. She loved her home and her work at the medical center, but her love for animals was always her passion. Over the years, Judy took in many rescued dogs, giving them a loving home. Her dogs were her family and her legacy. Judy loved to go hiking in the woods around Flagstaff and any wildlife sightings of deer, elk or squirrels made her hike a big success.

Judy is survived her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Van Cravens of Rio Rancho, N.M., and by her extended family and many friends at the Flagstaff Medical Center.

I had her in several classes, and her love of animals was most evident then too.  Sorry to hear of her passing.

Judy was always friendly. I had her in several classes and we worked together on a couple of projects. She was smart, kind and always had a smile for a friend. I am very sad to hear of her passing.
