GONZALES, Monte 67, passed away November 26, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents, Monico and Amalia Martinez Gonzales. Survived by his wife, Irene Perez Gonzales; daughters, Monica G. (Manuel) Vasquez and Lisa Gonzales; sisters, Linda Alvarez, Olga Angulo and Alicia Martinez; brothers, George and Jerry Gonzales. Also survived by six grandchildren, Julio M. Vasquez, Clarissa M. Vidal, Joaquin A. Vasquez, Brianna M. Anderson, Brennan M. Anderson and Aracely Amalia Vasquez. Monte was a Tucson native and a graduate of Pueblo High School and Cochise College. He was a member of the Army National Guard where he served as a military Police Officer. In addition, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for a number of years and later went on to join the Tucson Police Department where Monte retired after 28 years of service in 2008. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Monte took every opportunity to join his brother, Jerry, other friends and family on those memorable hunting trips. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Irene; his girls and his grandchildren. Monte's great sense of humor and his unforgettable smile will be missed by all of those privileged enough to have known and loved him. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 9:00 a.m. Mass will follow, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment at South Lawn Cemetery.
