In Memory

Brian Miller

Brian Lee Miller Brian's young life ended suddenly for unknown health reasons April 18, 2009 while attending a NASCAR event at PIR in Phoenix. Born January 20, 1974, he spent his early years growing up in San Manuel, Redington and Oracle. He graduated from CDO HS in 1992 and attended NAU that fall. Brian was an eleven year veteran and proud officer with the Tucson Police Department and was currently assigned to Operation Division West. He served as Class Counselor, a member of the Community Response Team, three years with the Special Investigations Division, and at the time of his passing, was on temporary assignment to a special task force. During his career he received many letters of appreciation including two Chief's Citation of Excellence awards. One was for team problem resolution within the Division and one was for outstanding performance. Brian also received recognition from the U.S. Secret Service for his involvement with a Presidential visit to Tucson. He had a love for golf, boating, sand buggies, racing and anything sports. All who knew him fell within his spell of friendship; he cherished them all. He will be forever loved and missed.

Brian Miller was my friend and one of very few people at CDO that I grew-up with. We were the 'Oracle" kids. Brian is another perfect example of what our Class 'is'. Brian's eulogy speaks for itself. He was a 'good cop' and Brian Miller was one anyone would respect. Brian respected and cared for people. It was difficult for me to process him in uniform, because he had an amazing sense of humor and was always 'cool' for being a police officer and never let his job change him.  Brian was 'that cop' who let you off with a warning, if you deserved it, and he would have died for a stranger.  It is scary how sudden our classmates can, and do, leave us.  Their passings makes it all the more difficult to be one of the ones 'left behind'.  Brian you are truley missed my friend.

I didn't know Brian, but as a brother in blue, I admire his dedication and devotion to our profession. May his family and friends find solace in his sacrifice and his chosen path to protect and serve; RIP, brother.
