YEP SURE DO!! MY BEST FRIEND LISA WAS MARRIED TO HIS YOUNGER BROTHER MICHAEL. STEVE WAS IN AND OUT OF JAIL. I REMEMBER SEEING HIM AFTER HE GOT OUT THE FIRST TIME AND HE JUST GAVE ME THE CREEPS. HE KIDNAPPED A WOMAN AND HELD HER IN A MOTEL FOR DAYS--THEY BEEN A BAR THAT WAS NEXT TO WHAT USED TO BE QT AND NOW MILNER ELECTRIC. STEVE HAD REPEATLY RAPED AND SODIMIZED THE GIRL. HE FINALLY LET HER GO NEAR HIS GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE IN MIDTOWN AREA. IT WAS PRETTY VIOLENT. BUT HE GOT A SENTENCE OF 400 YEARS OR I COULD BE WRONG ON THE YEARS. HE BEEN IN PRISON FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE HANGING HIMSELF WITH A BED SHEET. LOOK HIM UP IN THE DOC.

I don't remember this guy at all. But after reading Tulsa World news reports of his crimes I'm glad I never crossed his path.

He actually got 6,280 years for his latest crimes. It said he got a 10 year sentence in 1987 for the same type of crime. And he was headed back to jail for a drug charge and was out on bail when he committed these crimes. He told the girl he kidnapped that, "he was going away anyway, so he might as well rape, rob, pilfer and plunder." Yikes!

The sad part is that this guy had been arrested 35 times before this incident. 35 freaking times! And yet he was still out free in the world to commit these atrocities. Isn't our criminal justice system great. What a joke.

I can't find anything regarding his death but there are tons of articles regarding his last crime spree. Here are links to a few of the most pertinent.

I don't know which makes me more sick at my stomach - the fact that this was someone we knew, the fact that this all started when he was around 18, or the fact that this all happened so close to my childhood home!

If anybody remembers me from school, then you know I was quiet and easily blended in to the walls, so I unfortunetly seemed to only attract his type, I guess because it seemed like I would be easily pushed around. I was a freshman when I first met Steve, however, I think around 11th grade, I thought "Man, he is kinda cute." So,he started walking me to my classes. One day while we were going up the stairs in I beleive was the east wing stair case and not very many people took those stairs. Steve had gotten mad at me for some reason, and pushed me down the stairs. Of course after that, I knew he was bad news, so I stayed away from him and luckily he got the hint. I remember seeing him at Caravan in 1994 I think, it might have been 1998. He came up and started talking to me, and he was telling me how he had just gotten out of jail. I still felt a little creepy seeing him again. However, I could not help feeling sorry for him, he said he was trying to turn his life around and had started reading the bible. I told him I was proud of him. That was the last time I had talked to him and was very sad and angry when I had heard what he had done. But, still I felt so bad for him because I really don't think he had anyone stable or constant who really cared about him. May he rest in peace.

I had known Steve since grade school. I watched him get more and more aggressive through the years. He seemed to have no fear and was always doing crazy stunts, either at the neighborhood pool or just around the neighborhood. He has two younger brothers that were nothing like him as kids. He was on the wrestling team for a short time and was always in front of the mirror "flexing" and admiring.

I remember you, Stacie! :) I didn't realize you and Steve knew each other so well, though. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

steve's real father is a drug counselor of all things! if only the parents had done the right things with kids growing up,maybe we would not have these "problem kids" in the society. it all starts in the home and with church! steve was the only one of the three that gave me the creeps. my hair on the back of neck would stand up. that is how bad it was. i remember walking in a staircase at school and seeing him with this blond headed girl he dated and him getting very mad at her. i never understood it and didn't want to. i am surprised he never killed anyone. his brother mike was in the navy and was doing great;he was going to be a SEAL officer but then his mother died and that is when his life went the other way. it was really sad. lost a great wife and child to drugs and booze. the youngest brother chris has had trouble with booze too;living in his mother's house still by cooper's elementary, last time i heard anyways.
