Michael (Mickey) Howard Broadwater
Michael Howard Broadwater, 71, of Medford, Oregon, passed away from his final heart attack in his home with family on Monday, March 12, 2012. Mike was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, moved to Portland, Oregon at 3 months old, as a teen returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he spent most of his career years. Mike then came back to his roots in Portland, Oregon in 1982 and met Cindy on a blind date In Jacksonville, Or, on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1988. Mike and Cindy married a few months later on Columbus Day.

Mike began expressing his high energy, competitiveness and achievements in high school. Mike was the 1959 Oklahoma State Champion in Track (100 yard Dash, 880 yard Relay & Broad Jump). Mike was a Halfback on the Varsity Football Team and holds the high school record for the longest touchdown run (98 yards). Mike attended Tulsa Central HS and then graduated from Tulsa’s Will Rogers HS in 1959.
Mike was a Business Development Entrepreneur in the industries of Aircraft (American Airlines), Automobile (Saturn), Microfilm (3M/Canon), Computer (FlopLoc US Patent owner) industries. Mike earned many Business Achievement Awards throughout his career. He lived on both Oregon and South Florida Coasts and then Medford, Ore. He was a significant wholesale marketer working closely with the local inventors of Snap Capp. In 2011-12, he worked with his “Career Swan Song” with Michael Sorensen, the local Inventor/Mechanical Design Engineer of an innovative product that will enhance airline safety.

Mike enjoyed his family, friends, pets, sailboat, snow sports, and volunteering with Medford’s athletic youth organizations. Mike was a very effective communicator with an entrepreneurial spirit that drew people to him. His characteristics included strong personal faith, loyalty, integrity and commitment to his family. Mike knew no strangers. He is greatly missed by all.

Mike is survived by his wife, Cindy and his son Jared and his three daughters, Miranda & her husband Matt Diaz, Danae & her husband Jeff Price and Sheli and her husband Sean Dulohery, grandchildren, Cole, Hayley, Justin, Chad, Brandonn and Brian, his parents-in law Don and Sally Pearce, Jared’s girlfriend, Shelly Walch and his many, many dear friends. Mike was predeceased by his eldest son Brad in 2002.

Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Saturday, Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2012 at the Rogue Valley Christian Church at 1440 S Oakdale Avenue, Medford at followed by his 1pm Graveside Interment at Log Town Cemetery, 5931 Hwy 238, Jacksonville, OR. All family & friends are invited to both Church & Graveside services and a celebration at their home at the request of his family.
