Dick Rush

Richard "Dick" Rush
Richard “Dick” Rush, 71, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 15, 2012. He was born February 10, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas.
He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1959 where he lettered in track and wrestling. He later attended Mesa College on a wrestling scholarship, where he won a National Championship in 1960. His injury at the Pan American games thwarted his trip to the Olympics. Richard was also inducted into the Oklahoma Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Richard is survived by his sister’s Marilyn Wright and Ginger Tomshany, both of Tulsa; his children Erin Buhler, Stephen Rush and Heather Waresback; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rachal, Nick Buhler, Emma Waresback, Kaden Rush, Bowen Waresback, Talan Rush and Adelyn Rush.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie “Speedy” Rush and Ruth Naomi Rush, sister, Judy Gaston, and son Brian Rush.
Richard loved working with wood and playing as much golf as he possibly could. The one thing he loved most was playing with his seven grandchildren and sharing the pocket full of pictures he always carried with him.
In addition to the above, he was a reservest for the Army's infamous "Green Beret's in the early 60's. He also built several expansive decks for homes in the Tulsa area. One of them was featured in Better Homes and Garden's magazine. He was a member of both the 50th and 53rd Class Reunion Committees. I know there are a lot of stories about Dick, and there are several of our classmates that could probably tell many more. Obituary furnished by his son Stephen
