Greg May

Greg MayGreg R. May, age 69 passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family after a short illness with cancer. A Celebration of Life for Greg will be 2:00 Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 PM on Tuesday, also at the funeral home.
Greg May was born on October 19, 1950 in Albert Lea, MN, to Merle and Katie (Carr) May. He married his high school sweetheart Kay (Anderson) in 1971 and had 48 wonderful years together. Upon growing roots in Sioux Falls, SD, they raised two beautiful daughters and found lifelong friends. Greg found his place in many philanthropic organizations and enjoyed his Wednesday lunches at Rotary and his Saturday morning coffee group. He also loved a great sweat at the gym and found an extensive circle of friends to challenge him and share in his competitive spirit.
Greg was truly one of a kind. He had a brilliant mind and was proud of the business he created called TSTM, leading the electric metering industry with his new designs. He made lasting friendships within his professional networks and deeply enjoyed being a mentor to the new faces following in his footsteps. Besides his business, his greatest joys were spent with family watching Twins games, enjoying a peaceful sunset at their lake cabin, and playing with his precious one year old granddaughter.
Greg will always be remembered as a proud family man, a gentle and loving papa, and a supportive mentor to many that gravitated toward him.
He is survived by his three brothers; wife, Kay, his two children, Lindsay (Shane) Vernier and Katherine May, and one sweet granddaughter, River.
He was preceded in death by his father, Merle, and his mother, Katie.

Obviously I never saw that side of Greg. My sympathy to his family. I'm aware of the difficult road caused by cancer.
