NORTHPORT – Barry Lavon Sanders, age 64, of Northport, Ala., died July 13, 2016, in Tuscaloosa. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. Ronnie Sanders and Rev. Steve McCary officiating with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, Barney L. Sanders and grandparents, Walter and Ora Sanders, Vida and Frosty Asbury and E. C. Jenkins.Survivors include his wife, Wanda Whaley Sanders; parents, Shirley J. Kidd and Willie Kidd; brother, Ronnie Sanders (Sandra); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Barry was a true entrepreneur. He owned and managed variety of businesses through the years including a Union 76 service station in Alberta, an automotive garage in Alberta, Sue's Cafeteria, the Plaza Café and Bama Radiator and Auto Repair.For many years, Barry was a well-known face at Holiday Beach Dragway as a competitor and a willing advisor to any who asked. He loved to serve people and was especially interested in helping those who had run into a bit of hard luck. He never failed to establish a long list of loyal customers due to his honest and competent service. He tried to be the hands and feet of his loving savior, Jesus. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him. Honorary pallbearers are employees and loyal customers of Bama Radiator and Auto Repair and former employees and customers of Plaza Café.
