CINDY MANDERSON

 CINDY MANDERSON passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 after a very long battle with lung cancer. She was 61 years old. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madge Singletary Manderson and her sister, Teri Manderson Phillips. Cindy was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and attended the University of Alabama for three years majoring in advertising and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She completed her degree and graduated from the University of Florida. Cindy lived in Houston, Texas for several years where she worked at an ad agency and eventually moved back to Tuscaloosa where she worked at Creative Displays, Inc. When Creative Displays was sold, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama and worked in retail and eventually opened a women's boutique with her sister, Teri, appropriately named "Sisters". She has lived for over the last ten years in Fairhope, Alabama where she worked at Marriott's Grand Hotel in the hospitality division and also at Three Georges Candy Store. She was actively involved in Theatre 98 as well as volunteering in several community activities. She was an avid pet lover, especially to her dogs, Madge and Ethel, who she considered her children until their deaths. Cindy was a devoted daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and was affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as AC or Nini and had many friends who she kept in touch with since her childhood. Cindy is survived by her father, Lewis Manderson, Jr. and his wife Faye (Atlanta, GA), her brothers, Mike (Janie) Manderson, (Chattanooga, TN); Chris (Melissa) Manderson, (Asheville, NC); Scott (Beth) Sanfratel, (Birmingham, AL); and sister, Kelley (CT) Fitzpatrick, (Birmingham, AL). Memorial Services will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Road, Mountain Brook, Alabama 35213 on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at11: a.m. with reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mitchell Cancer Center, 750 Morphy Ave., Fairhope, AL 36532. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. William Taylor, Ms. Renee Sanford and the devoted caregivers who have taken care of Cindy the last three years: Debra Byrd, Tammy Brown and Shirley Quinny.
