Danny Huffman

James Daniel Huffman, "Danny", age 70, completed his race and left this world on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was a patient at UAB Hospital in Birmingham when he passed. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00 in the afternoon with visitation at 1:00.
Danny was born on March 4, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Other than a brief move to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and a cruise with the U.S. Navy around Viet Nam on the USS Newport News, Danny remained a resident of Tuscaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Cynthia Huffman, his sister Pam Huffman Ujhazy, and his brother Doug Huffman. He is survived by his son Matthew Clayton Huffman, his sister Sharan Huffman Grey (Danny), his brother-in-law Ed Ujhazy, and sister-in-law Arlene Spray Spell (David), his niece Cyndee Worrall (Dan) and his nephews Dustin McAbee, Blake Grey (Ashley), Tyler Ujhazy (Kelsey), and Chalis Huffman (Jessica). He also leaves behind his great-nieces Annabelle Worrall, Karleigh Grey, Greyson Worrall, Sawyer Grey, and Logan Ujhazy.
Danny attended Tuscaloosa City Schools and was a graduate of Livingston University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Economics and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. After graduation he worked in sales/marketing. Of all his work experience, his favorite was a job he took after retirement during the covid pandemic at Manderson Cancer Center. Being a former patient of Manderson and a cancer survivor, Danny understood their concerns and fears. He connected with them and they with him.
Danny Huffman was a comedian, a songwriter, a poet, a storyteller, a patriot, a veteran and a friend to everyone he met. Above all these, he was a Christian, saved by the Grace of God.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation to the Manderson Cancer Center or the charity of your choice.

Danny was one of the nicest, friendliest, funniest, and steadiest people I can think of when I had to name a classmate.  You could always walk away from an encounter with Danny and feel like you had been blessed by that meeting.  Never a bad day, even considering his life-changing experience with the devastating tornado that trapped (and nearly killed him) he continued to be a positive and upbeat person.

I'll miss his since of humor and personality.

This news saddens me greatly. He was a lifelong friend, as was the case with everyone who called him friend, always positive, always happy and funny. Danny was a good samaritan, thoughtful even to strangers. He cheated death once during the Tuscaloosa tornado and praised the people to came to his rescue. I admired Danny and will miss him. You were a friend to many and loved by all.

Got to know Danny much better while working at BF Goodrich. He kept all of us entertained with his humor . A great friend these many many years . Talked to him several times before his surgery and just knew all would go well he'd be home soon. I do have the assurance after many talks with Danny that he is now with God . He will certainly be missed .

Was so sad to hear of Danny's passing. We attended many of the same events while at Livingston University. I went with Danny to one of his fraternity's (TKE) formal.  I think the year was 1971. I remember Danny as a really nice guy who had quite the sense of humor..

So now that Danny has gone on to that "Great Cloud of Witnesses", can imagine him cheering so many on to run the race of faith on this earth.

Will truly miss not seeing him at our reunion.
