James Ruben Greenwood, age 71, of Pelham, AL, passed away on December 21, 2023. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The family will welcome visitors starting at 1 p.m.

Ruben was born on October 8, 1952, to Beverly Vaughn and June Greenwood in Virginia. He attended Tuscaloosa High, graduating in 1970. He then went on to study Industrial Design at Auburn University, graduating in 1982. His passion for design drove his career with a variety of professional aspirations and positions.

He could be spotted about town in his beloved small sports cars, wearing a scarf and an apple cap. He served those around him in a variety of ways, organizing fundraising efforts, volunteering at the Birmingham Zoo, and by always supporting those he loved. He served as president of the Birmingham British Motoring Club. His love for cars was diverse, including all British cars, MGs, Mini and Formula One racing. He enjoyed classic movies, was skilled at woodworking, creating anything from furniture to caricatures. Ruben never met a stranger and had a large village of friends all of whom will sorely miss his unique character and witty sense of humor.

He leaves a legacy through his sons Ryan (Brooke) and Logan (Maggie) Greenwood. His grandsons Brayden, Elliot, Rhett and Shepard Greenwood. His sisters Beverly Ann Wynn and Alison Peak.
