TUSCALOOSA | Billy Ray “Bill" Humphries, age 54, of Tuscaloosa, went to be with his Lord on May 3, 2006. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, off Highway 29 in Hale County with Rev. Arthur Thomas and Rev. Alvis Taylor officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Frank and Ruby Cook Humphries of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 

Survivors include his son, Benjamin Drayton Humphries Stringfellow of Tuscaloosa, and brother, Jerry F. Humphries of Atlanta, Ga.

Billy Ray was born in Anniston, and his family later moved to Tuscaloosa. He graduated from Livingston University in Livingston with a B.S. in Business. He spent many years in the sale of insurance and automobiles.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Henry, Doug Henry, Donnie Cook, Sammy Rinehart, Kenny Cook and Ronnie Henry. Honorary pallbearers are neighbors of 41st, 42nd, and 43rd Streets. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
