Obituary of Clarence "Junior" Luther Latner Jr.

 

Clarence "Junior" Luther Latner, Jr., 69 of Coker, passed away on October 20, 2021 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2-4p, at Central Church of Christ (304 Hargrove Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401), with Memorial Services to immediately follow at 4pm. Services will be officiated by Ministers: Roger Wright, Clark Sims, Wayne Duren and Randy Latner. Mr. Latner was a career firefighter, having retired after 28 years of service with the Tuscaloosa Fire Department. For the ten years, he preached the gospel at congregations of the Church of Christ in Greensboro, Eutaw and Cottondale, Alabama. His interests and hobbies included: Deer Hunting, Turkey Hunting, Physical Fitness, camping, kayaking, and going on travel adventures with his wife of 50 years, Karen. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lessie and Clarence Luther Latner, Sr., and two brothers: Lester Latner and Lomas Latner. He is survived by his wife Karen Sue Latner; two sons Russell (Jennifer) Latner of Coker and Randy (Jordan) Latner of Northport; three grandchildren: Bentley, Brody and Baylor Latner; and his two pet turtles “Clyde” and “Trump.” Honorary pallbearers will be Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue. Richard Tuten

Clarence, aka Junior, was one of my very good friends in High School. He was an all-around good person, humble and I was honorabled to be his friend. Rest in peace, my friend, you have left me with ann empty place in my heart. -Richard Tuten

Jerry Logan

Junior was one of God's good people. Knew him from our West End Elementary days . Thought the world of him and his family. Last time I saw him was over a year ago but he was always glad to see friends and I was always glad to see him . He will be missed.
