TUSCALOOSA - Jim D. Powell, 66, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on March 19, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. James Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in Benevola, Ala. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hester and J.C. Powell; grandparents, Beulah and Ivey Pate, and James Coleman, Sr. and Hattie Powell.
Survivors include his daughters, Tina L. West (David) and Ashley P. Owens (Wesley); sons, Jamey Powell and Hunter Powell (Lesley Fields); sister, Sherri Banks; brothers, Jerry Powell (Lisa), Ronnie Powell, and Johnny Powell (Susie); and grandchildren, Stacia and Luke West, Lilliana Powell, Samantha, Christopher and Catelyn Lambert.
Jim graduated from Tuscaloosa High School. His work history includes Central Foundry, Gulf States Paper, Bama Concrete, and he earned his way to becoming a Sargent in the Security profession. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing and Alabama football. Jim loved his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Jim's brothers, nephews and grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Mike Tillery, Lawrence and Artie Shaul.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
