TUSCALOOSA | Joseph Alexander Searcy, III, of Tuscaloosa, died August 7, 2014 at his home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church with The Reverend David Meginniss, The Reverend Dr. Catherine Collier, and Dr. Charles Durham officiating with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel directing. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services in Randall Hall at Christ Episcopal Church.
Mr. Searcy was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Alexander Searcy, Jr.; his grandparents, Agnes Tyler Zehmer and John Adrain McClure Zehmer; Joseph Alexander Searcy and Penina Foster Searcy.


He is survived by his wife, Jane Berry Searcy; his daughter, Margaret Alice ""Mallie"" Searcy Hale (James E.) and his son, Joseph Alexander ""Jeph"" Searcy IV; his mother, Margaret Tyler Zehmer Searcy; his sisters, Elizabeth Searcy Miller (Chris) and Margaret Searcy Alford (Andy); his sister-in-law, Judith Berry Strickland; and numerous other family and friends.
Mr. Searcy was born in Tuscaloosa and attended Tuscaloosa High School before attending college at Walker State Community College, the University of Alabama, and prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married the former Alice Jane Berry in 1982. Mr. Searcy worked at B.F. Goodrich for 30 years until his retirement in 2007. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and wildlife enthusiast.


Honorary pallbearers are members of Millwood Hunting Club and employees and former employees of B.F. Goodrich/Uniroyal Goodrich.


Pallbearers are his son, Jeph Searcy; son-in-law, James Hale; nephews, Christopher and George Miller; brothers-in-law, Chris Miller and Andy Alford; and family friends, Bobby Hicks, Greg Brooks, Jody Davis, Bruce Hummel, and Will Smith.
