Donna Truhett McJenkins, age 63, of Cottondale, passed away the 29th of Nov 2016.

Funeral services were held on the 3rd of Dec at First Wesleyan Church. Burial followed in Memory Hill Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Alan McJenkins; mother, Pauline Truhett; and brother, Dennis Glen Truhett.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer McJenkins Strother (Brian); sister, Diane Truhett Holifield (Billy); brother, David B Truhett (Cindy); father, R.B. Truhett; and seven grandchildren.

Donna was born the 22nd of Jan 1953 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to R.B. and Pauline Cook Truhett.

Donna had a valiant 35 year battle with breast cancer. Her strong will to live and contagious smile is remembered by everyone she met. She had an unwavering faith in God that allowed her to live one day at a time without worring about tomorrow. Her zest for life and her signature gift of joy kept her foused on others rather than herself. Her daughter and grandchildren will carry on her legacy of sharing a love of travel and entertaining sense of humor.

Donna worked as a dialysis nurse for 34 years and loved caring for others.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of West Alabama.
