Tristan’s Triumph - Son of Kristin (Kroening)
13 month old Tristan Reif, son of Bill and Kristin (Kroening) Reif is battling an extremely rare blood disease called Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis. Little Tristan has a multi-system case with risk meaning more than one organ is involved.
He was diagnosed in June‘09 after a lump on his head discovered months earlier was suspicious. By the time a diagnosis was confirmed the disease had spread rapidly throughout his body and his health was severely compromised. The disease has disintegrated the vertebrae near his neck and he is suffering with multiple skull and facial lesions. There is also disease in his elbow. It is a very painful condition and his long term prognosis is uncertain. The disease can be fatal for infants but we believe he is an angel here on earth and we will fight for him.
Since diagnosis he has been undergoing weekly chemotherapy at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay and is also on an extensive at home drug regimen. Treatment for this disease will continue for at least 50 weeks.
A benefit fund is now in place to help the family with mounting medical expenses. Your help is appreciated.
