Joseph F. Suarez, Jr., 51, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after suddenly falling ill at his home on October 8, 2014.


Born in Irvington, NJ, he is the son of the late Josephine (Viqueira) Suarez and the late Joseph F. Suarez, Sr. Joe was raised and educated in Union, NJ. He graduated from Union High School and attended Kean University and the Armat School for the Graphic Arts.


Joe was a devoted family man, wonderful husband, an amazing father, loving brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Jill (Pirie) Suarez, and his two loving children, Jacob and Miranda Suarez of Methuen; his sister JoAnne Reiss and her husband Marc, of Gloucester, MA and his sister-in-law Joanne Sordillo and her husband Steven, of Methuen.


He is also survived by his cherished nephews, Alexander Reiss, his wife Jessica and their children Gabrielle and Penelope of Gloucester, MA; Steven Sordillo, his wife Julie and their children Evangeline and Gabrielle of Orlando, FL; Daniel Sordillo and his wife Meaghan of Weymouth, MA; Matthew Sordillo and his wife Erin of Methuen; and Jonathan Sordillo of Methuen. He is also survived by his niece Nicole Reiss and her partner Stephen Hartman of Brighton, MA. Joe also leaves many coworkers, Kean University Nu Sigma Phi Brothers, and friends.


Joe loved to listen to music, play the guitar, draw, paint, do yard work, spend time with his family, and throw a Frisbee to Annie, the family’s Wheaton Terrier mix. Cherished family memories include camping, attending school plays and concerts, time spent in Gloucester with his sister’s family, and many great family vacations. Joe was a kind, funny, gentle man, who was always up for an adventure. He will be missed dearly by all of those who were lucky enough to know him.


Friends and family are respectfully invited to a memorial service and reception on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant Street, Methuen, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant House, http://www.covenanthouse.org/
