Comments:

After I graduated, I worked at few part-time jobs. I started working a full-time job at LNP in Thorndale, Pennsylvania in 1979 or 1980. I was in a serious car accident in 1980 while working there and was lay up for about six to eight months. I left the job at LNP after a few years and went to Delaware were I worked a few odd jobs. I started working for the State of Delaware in September of 1983 for the Department of Correction as a correctional officer. I just had my twenty-fifth anniversary with the State last year (2008). I started working at a correction facility in Wilmington, Delaware in October of 1983 after my training. After, I worked there for seven months I went to a training relief unit. I worked in this unit for seventeen years were I was working throughout all the correction facilities in the state. I took a promotion to Correctional Sergeant at a work release center in Dover, Delaware in December of 2001. This is where I am working now (2009).
I came back to Pennsylvania in 1983 while I still was in training for the Correctional Officer job due to my sister first husband passing away and met my wife to be Charlotte Jackson who graduated from Coatesville High School in 1974. We got married in September of 1985. My wife work at Strawbridge and Clothier in Christiana Mall until our son was born and then she became a stay at home mother. We have two children a son (Steven) in February of 1990 and a daughter (Nicole) in December of 1991(A Christmas Eve Baby). Our son started college this past year (Fall 2008) and our daughter is a sophomore in high school. Our son became an Eagle Scout in 2008. We have live in the Smyrna-Clayton area for the last twenty-six years. My mother pass away in 1992 and my father pass away on Christmas Day in 2000. (This was hard on me). I got the invitation to the thirty years class reunion, however was unable to attend it.

So now, I have thirty-seven years working with the state working as a correctional employee. I took a promotion to Lieutenant in 2019 at the sister faculty (Violation Center) of the work-release facility I was working at. Then, the close that facility and I back working at the work-release facility now (2020). The promotion work out well financially. I receive my ever-largest pay increase in my entire time in the department. I am 61 years old now, I hoping to work a few more years and retire from the state.
So now, about the family, our son graduated from Delaware State University with a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality. He got married and had a daughter (Our only grandchild) and was living in South Carolina. He no longer in the relationship and move back to Delaware with us. He has works several jobs. He working at Papa Johns and working towards store management. Our daughter graduated from Delaware Technical Community College with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. She was a Pharmacy Tech at Acme in Smyrna for about four years. The pay cap out below $10.00 an hour and she had limited benefits due to not being full-time (40 hours weekly). She left to find a better paying job. She works at Redner’s Warehouse (Grocery Store) in Milford, Delaware in the bakery section for about two years (Part-time). She just became a full-time employee. She making more money an hour now and better benefits, than as Pharmacy Tech. She engage to be marry and lives in Harrington, Delaware with her fiancé and his family. My wife was diagnosis with cancer last year (2019). She found she had cancer by falling down and breaking her leg. She has Multiple Myeloma and Thyroid cancers. (Ugh! tough time broke leg and two cancers). She has been receiving treatment for just over a year for the multiple myeloma. The doctor needed to treat the Multiples Myeloma first. She just had her thyroid remove and just starting on the medication for thyroid replace hormones. She doing reasonable well, but is tired and fatigue a lot. It has been a demanding time with her medical care. I always am calling the medical insurance company about her medical care. However, on the bright side right after my wife found out she had cancer, she and I were able to attend her Class 45th reunion outside Coatesville, Pa. last year (2019). She really had a great time and it really help lift her spirits.
