Jim and I were close friends in high school.  We were both in the trombone section and would hang out after school when we could.  The thing I remember most vividly, however, was my visit with Jim after he moved to San Francisco.  In our nights on the town I had a chance to introduce him to what a good gin martini shoud taste like.  I also remember Jim, his girlfriend, and me renting horses to ride on the beach.  Luckilly his girlfriend knew how to ride because my horse tried to throw me into the ocean 3 times.  Jim was in hysterics,of coure, as his girlfriend "saved "me. 

Even though we haven't talked in years, I'm saddened to hear of his passing.
