I'm saddened by this. John was an enduring example of the loyalty we all felt for our friends from '65. Unfailingly positive and energetic with a great smile and an invitation to visit is how I envision him. Larger than life and totally genuine. A tragedy!

I am so sorry to hear about John's passing.  He was a very well-rounded, vibrant guy and a nice one too.

Sorry to hear of John's passing. He lived a full life, was a good guy and all my UAHS memories of him are positive (though non-specific - welcome to my world!). I do note his reference to passing stuff around while doing concerts in Herb Yenser's choir! Those were magic times.

Peace and blessings to all who mourn his loss.

It is so sad to hear of John's passing. Nancy and I visited him in Saint Helena several years ago. It was great to see him and catch up.  I spoke to John several months ago to find out how he was doing after his house burned down. I also wondered if he was planning to go the mini-reunion. He was not.

John sounded good when spoke.  We were planning to get together again after the COVID restrictions are relaxed.  It so sad to realize that we will not see John again.

John's passing is truly a heart breaker. He was really liked by everyone in our class who knew him—and that was a whole lot of people. I met John at Barrington and we remained friends thereafter, enjoying fun times together as Cub Scouts and in later years at parties and ball games. At our 50th reunion John brought with him an old photo album with many pages of childhood pics and he enjoyed sharing them with dozens of classmates. Godspeed, John. I will always be thankful for our UA friendship.

John was always so smiley, so pleasant to be around. Fred and I were saddened to learn of his passing. RIP, John.

Dearest Peasant, the memories we shared are in my heart. May we all grieve in different ways, so I thought to honor John I would try to uplift the spirits of those who knew him and what kind of man he was. This poem was written by Mary Elizabeth Frye:

"DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND CRY"
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
SO DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND CRY,
I AM NOT THERE, I DID NOT DIE!

Peasant, you will be in my heart forever.
We've lost a great classmate who deeply cared for not only his class but Upper Arlington as well.
His favorite class was choir here we could all sing our hearts away and at the same moment, have the times of our lives.
I will miss you terribly, Peasant!

I remember John with affection from Barrington too.  I remember him as smiling and always ready for fun and conversation.
