My family moved from Upper Arlington to South Bend, Indiana in July 1964 keeping me from attending UAHS as a senior. My parents moved again in March 1965 and I stayed with a friend to complete my senior year and graduate. When I think of high school, I think of my sophomore and junior years at UAHS.
After a failed attempt at being an Ohio State student, I spent the next six years in the Navy. While in the Navy I took classes at the University of California Berkeley where I met my wife Linda. We were married in May 1969 and transferred to Rota, Spain. At Rota I continued my education and received an Associate in Arts degree from the University of Maryland European Campus. I was seriously hurt in May 1972, medevac to Wiesbaden Germany and subsequently medically discarded from the Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC.
After the Navy I continued my education receiving a BBA from Emory University in 1974 and MBA from Georgia State University in 1976.
While in school I was hired through an on campus interview by an Atlanta based bank and that started my career in banking. For the last 35 years I have worked for a bank or in some form of finance. I lived in Dunwoody, GA, a suburb of Atlanta until 1995 when I moved to Charlotte, NC.
My wife of 40 years died from pancreatic cancer in 2009. I am still working and do not see retirement in the near future. The majority of my net worth and projected retirement income was tied to a bank that failed in 2007. My game plan now is to work as long as someone will let me.
